Secret Trust The Million Dollar Word

Article published on 2/9/2011 4:09:14 PM in Self Improvement / Motivational

Trust is one word that has become so expensive in our day and age. A word which was supposed to depict an absolute belief in honesty, signifying that one involved can do no deliberate harm. It has now become so abused that it is virtually on the way to extinction. There have been several cases where trust had been betrayed, so much so that it now becomes so easy to hinge on the extreme side which supports the notion that trust just does not seem to exist any more. Although it has to be noted that extremes destroy a lot of things, certainly it does not help in this case either. It only gets to do more harm to the issue than help. Extremes prevent trust, because once it remains the position it makes it quite hard to trust at all. At this point it is quite pertinent to mention that business no matter how small cannot be transacted without the slightest measure of trust. Trust is absolutely necessary in any relationship, be it formal or informal, work or play.

There are certain things referred to as trust potentials and these are necessary indicators that help measure levels of trust. These potentials well harnessed could portend success for anyone. Imagine a project manager who has to work with the well trusted and not so trustworthy people alike just to deliver the best. This in effect means that no one can be written off as not being able to contribute to the success of a project, especially on the basis of lack of trust. The solution lies in being able to trust no matter how little as it is a principal lubricant for the wheel of progress. Trust is as good as the currency spent in business which means that its absence would make transactions virtually impossible. Trust enhances a credible sense of judgment as it eliminates a reasonable amount of anxiety leaving the head with enough clarity to think straight even while under pressure.

Experience has shown that we get to hurt ourselves more by lacking trust as it keeps us looking over our shoulders almost every time, soon enough turning us into neurotics who can do nothing without anxiety. Neurotics trust less and so lose more as it is so obvious that they do not trust anyone and can suspect even the most innocent. Although one is advised never to trust blindly as this can often lead to being taken for granted. It is only reasonable to deploy a right measure of trust. This might involve a certain amount of sacrifice as betrayal could show up, but it can be limited within a range that can be absorbed without as much shock as can rock the boat. Business thrives when the parties involved can be assured that there is a certain level of responsibility involved on both sides which readily transforms into trust. Trust of itself is risky, but any successful business readily involves a sizable amount of risk.

Betrayals in the past may have come in different shapes and formats but it does not justify a total denial of trust, as if the word never existed. This is why it is quite necessary to prepare the mind to accommodate betrayal as it would always show up whether in business, partnership, relationship, friendship or any other mode of human transaction. Trust keeps our mind at rest, although you are advised to keep your eyes open through the process even with your feet on the ground. Most people tend to place so much demand on trust that it inevitably becomes unrealistic and might eventually be likened to building castles in the air. We must learn not to raise our hopes beyond points which are reasonable enough for humans, as it would take one with extraordinary or supernatural powers to grant every demand we could ever place on trust.

Life is easier lived with trust in place as it does a whole lot to enhance our sense of security; boosting our self-esteem by very great amounts. It is the reason why any two people can work or play together. Trust is inevitable in any human endeavor and is a principal factor in almost every major sphere of life. Learning to trust puts the mind at rest and most definitely promotes good health which is necessary for a long and qualitative life.
